A: The Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce can assist you in finding the right business partners, such as distributors, agents, importers or investment partners for your company by using our extensive database and knowledge of the Portuguese and Dutch market. We arrange tailor-made programmes in which you visit potential business partners on location. In 2 to 3 days you have pre-arranged meetings on location with interested potential business partners that fulfil your selection criteria. If required these can be personally accompanied by one of our bi-lingual staff members with a legal or economic background. This approach has proven to be successful for various companies, see our track record on this page. For this type of service -including 2-days guidance from our staff- in most cases a fixed rate for members applies of € 2.750 (excl. VAT, travel costs, hotel costs, translation costs and further expenses).
For non-members a rate of € 3.250 (excl. VAT, travel costs, hotel costs, translation costs and further expenses) applies.
Dutch companies may apply for a PSB subsidy given by the Government to companies initiating export activities. To see if your company is able to receive this subsidy is easy via the “PSB test” on the website www.kvk.nl (PSB test, Programma Starters Buitenland) or by contacting your local Chamber of Commerce. This saves you up to 50% of the costs involved in exporting.

Q: I want to start a business in Portugal. Do I have to register my company with the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce? What help can you offer? »
A: As you may know the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in Portugal does not have the same function as the Dutch Chambers of Commerce in the Netherlands. To register your company in Portugal you have to register it at the Conservatória do Registo Comercial.
We can assist you in starting your company in many ways. On becoming a member you have access to our Members Only website, where you will find some very useful information on starting a company, such as the legal forms, the steps to be taken, the possibilities of funding by subsidies etc. For tourism activities a special document exists.
We can also actively assist you in setting up your company. We can take care of the formalities with the various entities that are involved in this process such as the Notary, Conservatory, Tax Authorities etc. If you wish to entrust us with the establishment of your company, the rate for members that applies for this service will be € 1.275 (excl VAT). This includes the service of taking care of the administrative process, it does not include transportation costs, taxes and other costs connected to the establishment of a company, these amount to around € 600,00 (depending on the legal entity chosen, start capital etc.). Q: We would like to receive a list with contact information on distributors (importers/manufacturers/agents/law firms/accountants etc.). How can the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce help with this ? »
A: We would kindly like to invite you to become a member of the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce. As a member of our business association you will receive the required contact list for free if it concerns a general list of information (e.g. manufacturers of shoes).
If your request concerns a specific list (e.g. manufacturers of manually fabricated shoes), more research is required and hence we would make a proposal based on the estimated hours to be spent on collecting the required information. As a member you are entitled to one free hour of service on becoming a member and you receive a discount on our hourly rate and pay € 75,00 (excl. VAT) per hour for the remaining hours of work.
In addition to these benefits for members you will receive an information package, access to our Members Only website, invitation for our social events, a membership card with access to several discounts and an exclusive list of all our members to enable you to develop Member to Member marketing.
Non-members pay € 85,00 (excl. VAT) per hour, whereby we charge a minimum of 2 hours.

A: Yes. There are many ways to promote your company, product or service through the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce. Furthermore the possibility exists to include a reference on our website. A: The Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce does not actively intermediate between job applicants and job offers. What we can do for you is to insert a reference to your CV in our bi-weekly newsletter. Subsequently when we are contacted by companies that are looking for people with your profile, we will forward your information to them.

A: Yes. We can help you if you want to organise an event (seminars, debates and congresses) in or study/incentive trips to Portugal by offering you a personalised service for business or leisure events. We can either refer to specialised members or actively organize a part or the whole event. In addition we can support you in participating in fairs and exhibitions. Q: I need a translation of a Dutch document into Portuguese. Could the Chamber help with this? »
A: The Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce also provides translation services and certification of documents services, whether it concerns business documents or legal documents in various languages (Dutch, Portuguese, and English). For each document a specific budget will be proposed, as the budget depends on the content (economic information, legal information or other) and the length of the document to be translated. For pressing translations a last minute charge may apply. We kindly ask you to send us the document to be translated so we can give you an adequate budget.
Q: I would like to learn Dutch to improve my job/business opportunities. Could the Chamber give some information on this? »
A: For those interested in fortifying their relationship with the Netherlands or improving business opportunities by learning the Dutch language, we provide a fast track specially designed language course. The course is developed specifically for business people who do not have the time to participate in lengthy language courses. The material used is therefore a selection of various manuals. Depending on the results of an initial test, an appropriate level will be determined. In principle this is a service intended only for members, who are able to participate at a special rate. The courses will take place in groups, with a minimum of 4 participants, at the premises of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. If you choose to follow a group-course than the rate is € 19,00 + IVA per 60 minutes. For individual students a rate of € 25 + IVA applies for courses which take place in Lisbon. For non-members different rates apply.

Q: I am a student and looking for information on a particular subject for my thesis or the company I am doing my internship with. Can the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce help? »
A: Yes we can, but since we are a membership organization you/the company will either have to become a member to receive basic information (which takes us up to a maximum of an hour to assemble) or pay a non-member hourly fee of 85 euros/hour. In case you become a member and we need to spend more than an hour to find the information, a fee of 75 euros/hour will be applicable. Estimates of budgets can of course be given in advance.
