It’s that time of the year again! We are pleased to invite our members to join us at the Convento dos Cardaes next 5th of December as we celebrate the festive season with a special solidarity tea and guided tour!
Tucked away in the heart of Lisbon, the Convento dos Cardaes was founded in the 17th century, it stands as a rare example of Baroque architecture that survived the 1755 earthquake. Inside, visitors can admire its magnificent gilded woodcarvings, intricate marble floors, and remarkable Dutch tiles that give the convent its distinctive charm.
Since 1878, the convent has also been home to women with special needs, continuing a mission of care, inclusion, and dignity that makes it a truly living piece of Lisbon’s history.
The Convento dos Cardaes opens the doors for their Solidarity Tea, a tradition that blends hospitality, community, and purpose. More than just a gathering, each cup of tea served contributes to safeguarding this remarkable place and supporting the women who live there.
