Get in Touch with the Dutch – Web Summit Picnic

If you’ve ever seen the Dutch during a World Cup or European Championship, you’ll know: wherever they go, they bring a wave of orange, energy, and spontaneous celebration. Streets, squares, and stadiums turn into a sea of bright orange — a tradition known as “Orange Fever.”

But why orange? It comes from the Dutch royal family, the House of Orange-Nassau, and over time it has become the national colour — a symbol of pride, connection, and collective celebration.

During Web Summit, we’re bringing that same spirit to Lisbon.

From 12:00 onwards, join the members of the Dutch Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and the Dutch Start Up delegation for a relaxed, open picnic — where networking meets that unmistakable Dutch "gezelligheid".

Everyone is welcome. Whether you’re here to connect, curious about the Dutch ecosystem, or simply in the mood for something different.

In true Dutch style:

  • Wear something orange
  • Bring something to eat or drink to share, click here for registration.
  • Come as you are

Think of it as a spontaneous mini “Orange Fever” moment — the kind that usually appears in fan zones and city squares during football tournaments, but now right at Web Summit.

Put on something orange, bring your appetite, and come experience a little piece of Dutch culture.

Location: the outdoor benches near the entrance of Pavilion 1, with a view of the MEO Arena.
