St Nicholas church
The Church of São Nicolau is located in Baixa Lisbon between Rua de S. Nicolau, Rua da Prata and Rua dos Douradores. The Church of São Nicolau was built at the beginning of the 13th century, having been founded between 1209 and 1229 and rebuilt in the same century, in 1280, on the initiative of Bishop D. Mateus; After several rebuildings, it underwent its most important change in the 1870s due to the 1755 Earthquake.
In recent years the parish has been very active, promoting numerous activities: catechesis, summer camps and charitable works. Charity works include the distribution of fresh food baskets, so many people have already been helped in this charity work that it has already been reported on prime time TVI
