A visit to Quinta do Quetzal | Alentejo
A WONDERFUL INVITATION
The other day, we received a very nice invitation from our member Quinta do Quetzal to participate in their opening lunch celebrating the new exhibition in the Quetzal art center called "ECHOES OF OUR STORIES". As the lunch was on a saturday and quite far out from Lisbon, I decided to make it a family outing together with my husband and daughter.
The quinta belongs to a Dutch family and is located in the heart of the Alentejo region, on the slopes of the picturesque town of Vidigueira. I still remember the opening of the Quetzal adega in 2006. At that time, the restaurant with a stunning view, a gift shop and the modern art center did not yet exist. But as Mrs de Bruin explained, the place is in constant change and developing organically with the involvement of family members and support from the different teams. Congratulations for the creation of such a magnificent place in the middle of the beautiful region of the Alentejo!
It was nice to see, that all the artists (Dutch artist) Jennifer Tee, Claudia Martínez Garay, Diana Policarpo, Agnes Waruguru and Müge Yilmaz were present. These artists all tell stories in different ways reshaping our relationship with the environment and more-than-humans. The exposition can be visited until september 2024 and is curated by Aveline de Bruin and Laurie Cluitmans, who worked in close collaboration with Heske ten Cate and Filipa Oliveira.
During the buffet lunch with great local products, we were also able to taste the first Quetzal Rosé 2021. A rosé wine, made with grapes from their very special vineyard Trincadeira da Coroa. Very tasteful and refreshing ! Thank you @Family de Bruin for the great hospitality and for inviting us. Thank you @Reto Jörg for remembring us.
