Executive students of Health Management visit Portugal - day 2
This week a group of 36 executive students of Health Management from our member TIAS Business School visit Lisbon. Aim of the week is to understand the Portuguese health care system and the difference with the Dutch system.
Today, the second day of the visit, we started of with a panel discussion on Public versus Private Health. Sílvia Moreira (Associate partner at New Angle) started of with a helicopter view of the health care system in Portugal. After the break clinical doctor and public health care specialist Manuel Pereira kicked off a brainstorm session together with the students in an attempt to design the preferred health care system.
To get a real understanding of the public and private sector, visits were organised in the afternoon to Hospital Santa Maria, where the group was kindly received by Dr Luis Pinheiro, Clinical Director of CHULN and Member of the Board of Directors and Dr. Francisco Matoso, Advisor to the board of directors. Another group got a chance to visit the newly build hospital CUF Tejo, where the group was hosted by director of the hospital: Rita Marques da Costa and board member Gonçalo Marcelino. The groups were very impressed by both hospitals and the hospitality of both CUF and Hospital Santa Maria.
We are very thankful to have received the help of Prof. Adalberto Campos Fernandes in the organisation of the visit to Hospital Santa Maria and Tomé Canas for the visit to CUF Tejo.
