Get to know dutch artist Wiro van Vilsteren
Get to know the work of Dutch artist and architect Wiro van Vilsteren, who lives and works in Ferreira do Alentejo since 2008. He questions his relationship with what is and what stays, through fragile and architectural structures and images. The wooden statues are burned and covered with a skin made of charcoal, impregnated with wax and paint. In this way they express the vulnerability and transience of the material, but also show how these pieces are conserved and renewed, thus strengthening the mutual relationship between the different layers of time.
Herewith, he invites you to visit his exhibition in “Espaço Cultural das Mercês”, Rua Cecílio de Sousa 94, Lisboa, between the 6th and the 13th of September.
