Our member KLM launches its sustainable aviation fuel program dedicated to business customers

Janeiro, 2021

Air France-KLM has just launched an innovative program that allows companies to actively participate in the sustainable travel of the future.
Air France and KLM business customers, after estimating the CO₂ emissions associated with their travels, will be able to determine an annual contribution they wish to devote to the corporate SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) program. The Air France-KLM Group will invest all of these contributions in the supply and use of sustainable aviation fuel. These investments will support the creation of a line capable of guaranteeing an increasingly eco-responsible air transport.
By investing in this corporate program, companies are taking concrete actions to reduce CO₂ emissions and contribute to the ecological transition of air transport, supporting innovative solutions.
Sustainable aviation fuels, key levers for reducing CO₂ emissions
Air France and KLM have been involved in research and program development in the field of alternative fuels for many years. In 2011, the two companies were among the first to operate commercial flights, demonstrating the existence of alternatives to fossil fuels.
Sustainable aviation fuels can be manufactured today from used oil, debris or forest residues. They can be incorporated in jet-fuel without any modification to the engines. Its use makes it possible to reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 85% compared to conventional fuel. The main challenge today is the development of a sustainable industry, to which Air France and KLM's client companies can make a very concrete contribution.
At a time when awareness of climate issues is the basis of the strategy of many companies, Air France-KLM's SAF Corporate program offers its corporate customers the opportunity to become actors in reducing CO₂ emissions during their travels .
"Air France and KLM have been working for many years to reduce their environmental impact," said Henri de Peyrelongue, Deputy General Manager of Commercial Sales at Air France-KLM. “The launch of the SAF Corporate program is yet another proof of a strong commitment that leads to concrete actions. Through your contribution, our business customers can be tomorrow's partners in an energy transition, fully integrated with their most eco-responsible travel policies ".
