Our member Monte São Sebastião receives gold medal for their red wine from Quinta Monte São Sebastião
Monte São Sebastião Grand Reserve 2016 won the Gold Medal at the 29th edition of Mundus Vini International Competition, held in Germany. Mundus Vini awards are held twice a year; a summer tasting in August and a spring tasting in February. What an impressive feat, as this is one of the most important wine events in the world!
The wines from Quinta Monte São Sebastião have had an excellent performance rating with international specialized critics, where the Reserva White Wine 2019 earned 91 points in the International Wine & Spirits Competition in the United Kingdom.
The red wine from Quinta Monte São Sebastião won in the “Best of Show Douro” category and is the result of a combination of the most typical grapes found in the Douro Region.
Coming from an old vine with an age of over 45 years, it results from a long fermentation process to extract the full potential of the Touriga Nacional, Red Roriz and Red Barroca grape varieties. It has an intense aroma of black fruits, with a touch of vanilla that comes from aging in French and American oak barrels. A rich and unctuous wine that ages very well bottled, becoming even more harmonious and highlighting the spicy notes.
Congratulations Monte São Sebastião, very well deserved!
